I finally managed to squeezed in a weekend trip south to one of my favorite places in Wisconsin, Devil's Lake State Park.
The place was packed as it was Memorial Day weekend, and the trails often overrun with campers and their dogs but here and there I was able to find a section of trail that for a few minutes gave me some solitude. My three hour drive to the park was plagued with frequent rain but an hour after arriving, the clouds broke and the rest of the day featured beautiful sunshine.
So, despite the people traffic, it turned out to be one of the best days of the spring.

Beauty from A Culvert Pipe
Finally a taste of the warmer weather to come here in Wisconsin! After 17 inches of snow just two weeks ago the weather took a dramatically warmer turn. I wasted no time in getting out to enjoy it and rediscover my usual haunts.
After a long winter a person can easily find beauty in simple things, even when it's water cascading over rocks from a lowly culvert pipe.
